Job Requirements
- 7 plus years relevant work experience in customs and trade/brokerage
- Licensed Customs Broker certification preferred
- Certified Customs Specialist certification preferred
- Proficiency with MS Excel and data management
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks promptly
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Detail oriented
- Positive attitude
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve
Job Qualifications
- 7 plus years relevant work experience in customs and trade brokerage
- Licensed Customs Broker preferred
- Certified Customs Specialist preferred
- Background in the fastener industry preferred but not required
- Proficiency with MS Excel and data management
- Ability to analyze large data sets and identify abnormalities
- Strong team and individual work skills
- Ability to shift priorities as required
Job Duties
- Complete classifications for new and existing products for North America
- Ensure compliance with all import/export regulations including classification, valuation, country of origin, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, and steel and aluminum tariff rules
- Update and maintain a classification database with rationale for each classification and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders
- Stay up to date with ongoing changes in steel/aluminum tariffs and reciprocal tariffs
- Promptly handle requests from the Customs Broker to prevent delays, audit US and Canada entry files for accuracy, and ensure proper storage of entry records
- Understand and manage the impact of ADD/CVD in the US and SIMA in Canada, complete country of origin and USMCA documentation, and support government agency requests
- Validate country of origin for exported goods, maintain export documentation, and assist with the Aviso and UVA processes in Mexico
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify new procedures and methods to expedite trade processes and enhance compliance
- Develop and implement denied party screening processes for customers and vendors
- Drive continuous improvement in import/export processes to reduce costs and entry times
- Monitor and report on developments in customs and trade compliance
- Provide additional support to ensure overall team and company success
