Job Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
- Age under 40 at referral unless exempt due to prior federal law enforcement service
- Ability to pass the CBP Entrance Exam
- Successful completion of CBP Field Operations Academy training
- Willingness to work at assigned duty locations including border and port cities
- Ability to meet physical fitness standards
- No disqualifying criminal history
- Availability to work overtime
- Ability to learn and apply federal laws and regulations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- One year of specialized work experience for GS-7 level
- Ability to perform physical inspections and apply relevant laws
- Strong observational and analytical skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
- Successful completion of CBP training academy
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to maintain security and confidentiality
- Compliance with age and residency requirements
Job Duties
- Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations
- Facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel
- Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances
- Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States
- Preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband
- Completing required reports and documentation
- Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies
