Job Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- primary U.S. residency for three of the last five years
- must meet age restriction of under 40 years unless exempt
- eligible for Veterans Recruitment Appointment if applicable
- willing and able to complete formal training including pre-academy orientation and Field Operations Academy
- physical fitness and ability to perform law enforcement duties
- clear background check
- comply with federal employment regulations
Job Qualifications
- Possess a minimum of three years full-time general work experience demonstrating ability to meet and deal with people and apply knowledge
- or possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- or combination of education and experience
- specialized work experience equivalent to one year at a lower grade level for GS-7
- bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement or one full year of graduate-level education
- previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience may qualify for GS-9
- able to complete required training and pass academy requirements
Job Duties
- Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations
- facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel
- conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances
- determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States
- preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband
