Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
- age under 40 at time of referral unless exempt
- high school diploma or equivalent
- successful completion of CBP Field Operations Academy
- ability to pass background investigations and entrance exam
- physical fitness to meet job standards
- willingness to work in assigned duty locations which may include border and port cities
- compliance with federal employment guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or three years of general work experience demonstrating interpersonal and learning abilities for GS-5
- one year of specialized full-time work experience performing inspections and applying laws for GS-7
- bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement or graduate-level education for GS-7
- previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience for eligibility at GS-9
- ability to complete required training and maintain physical fitness
- U.S. citizenship status
- compliance with age and residency requirements
Job Duties
- Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations
- facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel
- conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances
- determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States
- preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband
- completing required training programs and maintaining physical fitness standards
- participating in continuous professional development and law enforcement duties
