Job Requirements
- Must be at least 19 years of age to sell tobacco products
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience handling cash and working in customer service roles
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Knowledge of retail operations
- Knowledge of merchandising procedures
- Computer skills related to job duties including Microsoft Office
- Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP)
- Food Handlers Card or Food Workers Card
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
- Physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Commitment to maintain a neat personal appearance and good hygiene
- Positive and professional interaction with customers and coworkers
- Ability to maintain safety standards and comply with safety policies
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cash handling experience
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Knowledge of retail operations and merchandising procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to adapt to variable situations with limited standardization
- Valid training credentials such as Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP), Food Handlers Card, or Food Workers Card.
Job Duties
- Provides exceptional customer service, representing the company positively including greeting customers, smiling, making eye contact, soliciting additional sales, processing transactions accurately, thanking customers and inviting them to return
- Responsible for all retail sales, including selling tobacco products in compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations
- Opens and closes the store as needed
- Handles cash and operates a computer-based cash register
- Balances cash register at the end of shifts
- Secures all funds in safe or register
- Makes timely cash drops and maintains cash drawer at or below company-set maximum levels
- Performs daily cleaning duties to maintain a safe and inviting work environment
- Cards customers for all age-restricted products per company standards
- Prepares food and drinks, maintains and stocks food preparation areas according to health codes
- Maintains inventory levels, restocks shelves, and refills dispensing machines
- Implements security measures to prevent loss of store merchandise
- Ensures cleanliness and proper merchandising of packaged goods
- Completes cash reconciliation and closing reports on closing shifts
- Maintains professional and courteous contact with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the community
- Adheres to company image standards with neat appearance and good personal hygiene
- Preserves safety of self, colleagues, and others within the work environment
- Performs all register duties accurately and quickly
- Supports store manager as directed
- Observes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures
- Completes other assigned duties as necessary
- Communicates effectively with others and provides regular and predictable attendance
- Takes reasonable precautions to protect company assets.
