Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age to sell tobacco products
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • cash handling and customer service experience
  • ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • ability to perform basic math operations
  • ability to follow company safety policies and procedures
  • ability to work weekends and evening shifts
  • physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • ability to maintain neat appearance and good personal hygiene
  • computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite
  • willingness to attend required training and obtain necessary certificates

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • cash handling and customer service experience
  • knowledge of retail operations
  • knowledge of merchandising procedures
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
  • demonstrated customer service skills
  • ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • ability to perform basic math operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to adapt to various situations with limited standardization
  • training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP)
  • Food Handlers Card or Food Workers Card
  • attendance at training sessions, seminars and educational classes as required

Job Duties

  • Provides exceptional customer service including greeting, smiling, making eye contact, soliciting sales, processing transactions, thanking customers and inviting them to return
  • Responsible for all retail sales including tobacco in compliance with regulations
  • Opens and closes the store as needed
  • Handles cash and operates a computer based cash register
  • Balances cash register at the end of shift
  • Secures all funds in safe or register
  • Makes timely drops and maintains cash drawer at or below maximum level according to company policies
  • Performs daily station cleaning maintaining a safe work environment
  • Complies with company standards on carding customers for age restricted products
  • Prepares food and drinks maintaining health code compliance
  • Maintains inventory, restocks shelves and refills dispensing machines
  • Ensures security of store items for loss prevention
  • Takes precautions to protect company assets
  • Maintains cleanliness and proper merchandising of packaged goods
  • Ensures cash is reconciled and closing report executed on closing shifts
  • Exhibits courteous and professional behavior with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the community
  • Maintains neat appearance and personal hygiene in line with company standards
  • Preserves the safety of self and others in the workplace
  • Accurately performs transactions and register duties in accordance with company guidelines
  • Completes daily station responsibilities including cleaning inside and outside, food preparation, and stocking merchandise
  • Communicates effectively and productively with others
  • Provides regular and predictable attendance
  • Supports Store Manager as directed
  • Observes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures
