Job Requirements

  • Six months to one year of experience in custodial or related field
  • Must demonstrate responsiveness to diverse backgrounds and equity-minded practices
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety practices for equipment and chemicals
  • Must be able to work a temporary substitute position limited to 165 days
  • Must provide required application materials including resume and professional references

Job Qualifications

  • Six months to one year of experience in custodial or related field
  • Evidence of responsiveness to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively clean district spaces
  • Ability to follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
  • Ability to report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards
  • Ability to empty waste receptacles timely
  • Ability to follow directions for room and district space setups
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with district staff
  • Bilingual and biliterate (desirable)
  • Related specialized training (desirable)

Job Duties

  • Clean district spaces by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, waxing, and power washing a variety of surfaces
  • Clean work areas such as classrooms, offices, laboratories, and workshops by vacuuming carpets, shampooing carpets, and spot cleaning
  • Empty waste receptacles in buildings and under awnings
  • Clean drinking fountains, restroom facilities, and showers to ensure areas are disinfected
  • Service restrooms to supply paper towels, soap, toilet paper, and other items
  • Clean chalkboards, dry erase boards, and trays
  • Assemble chairs, tables, furniture, and equipment for special events
  • Ensure cleaning areas are stocked with adequate supplies
  • Report maintenance and repair needs to senior custodian or appropriate personnel
  • Remove recyclables from classrooms and offices
  • Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours
  • Engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing equity issues
  • Perform related duties as assigned
