Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work
- Ability to operate custodial equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing practices
- Ability to identify and report hazards
- Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to use personal protective equipment
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing techniques for various facility spaces
- Ability to identify and report safety hazards
- Good physical condition to meet the demands of the job
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow standardized policies and procedures
- Commitment to maintaining safe and sanitary facilities
Job Duties
- Clean and maintain all interior spaces of the Greenville Transit Authority facilities to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
- Maintain lobby and common areas by sweeping and washing floors, removing fingerprints, cleaning glass, and vacuuming mats
- Empty and clean wastebaskets, damp wipe and dry surfaces to remove stains
- Sweep and mop floors in offices, hallways, laundry, and maintenance spaces
- Clean sinks, refrigerators, and small appliances in kitchens and break rooms
- Sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and lactation rooms, polish mirrors and fixtures, restock paper products and soap dispensers
- Vacuum carpeted areas weekly, dust furniture, fixtures, appliances, and gym equipment
- Maintain exterior facility grounds, sweep entryways and walkways, remove debris and litter, clean exterior glass and remove graffiti
- Perform light landscaping and seasonal tasks such as watering plants and snow/ice removal
- Provide event and general facility support by setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment
- Operate custodial equipment including floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums
- Post signage for closures or caution when necessary
- Track and communicate inventory needs for cleaning supplies
- Report unsafe conditions, maintenance issues, or needed repairs promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
