Job Description

The University of Missouri Campus Facilities Operations department is a vital part of the university, dedicated to creating a safe, efficient, and inspiring environment that fosters education, research, and service excellence. This department oversees the management and upkeep of campus facilities and infrastructure, delivering a wide range of services including Engineering, Custodial Operations, Maintenance, Construction, Inventory Management, Sustainability, and Project Management. Job Requirements

  • Pass a physical examination to demonstrate physical capability
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, stretch, walk, stand, sit, grasp, and twist repeatedly
  • Ability to climb stairs, step stools, and ladders and descend stairwells
  • Ability to lift, carry, and set down objects weighing 25-50 lbs
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to wear a backpack vacuum for extended periods
  • Ability to wear protective masks and hearing protection
  • Ability to work around dust and cleaning chemicals
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write
  • One year of general maintenance and/or custodial experience preferred
  • Some knowledge of cleaning equipment and building maintenance methods
  • Mechanical ability for minor equipment repairs
  • Good physical coordination and mechanical aptitude

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean and orderly area using proper methods, equipment, and procedures
  • Mop, scrub, sweep, and vacuum floors
  • Empty trash and clean and restock restrooms daily
  • Clean water fountains daily
  • Clean lounges
  • Clean stairwells
  • Report or replace lightbulbs as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
