Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in custodial or janitorial roles preferred
- ability to perform physical labor including lifting heavy objects
- basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols
- ability to work flexible hours
- must be able to follow instructions and safety regulations

- basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair

Job Duties
- Perform comprehensive and scheduled cleaning of bathrooms, garbage collection and removal
- vacuum floors, sweep floors and stairways
- polish furniture
- dust shelving, furniture, glass doors, windows and shelving
- wash walls
- utilize high-speed buffing equipment
- set up and tear down meeting rooms and equipment
- perform routine building maintenance and specialized cleaning
- maintain adequate custodial supplies
- assist in manual tasks such as emptying outside book drops and transporting books
- inspect and understand building mechanical systems
- assist in opening and closing procedures
- travel between library buildings and run errands
- respond to inclement weather conditions including spreading de-icing material or shoveling
- communicate and collaborate with other custodians
- perform minor repairs and painting of library spaces
- perform other duties as assigned
