Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- one year of experience in custodial work or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- working knowledge of cleaning equipment, machinery and supplies
- cleaning techniques
- some knowledge of supervision
- ability to perform heavy physical activity
- ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery
- ability to maintain effective work relationships
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to deal with public

Job Duties
- collects and disposes of garbage
- sweeps and dust mops rooms
- cleans, repairs, changes filters and other equipment under the supervision of head custodian
- stripping and scrubbing of floors
- finishing and refinishing all types of floors
- grounds care and irrigation
- dusting rooms and furniture, wet mopping
- cleaning sinks
- washing walls
- cleaning lights
- moving furniture, supplies, books, etc
- cleaning woodwork
- cleaning school grounds
- replacing light tubes and bulbs
- washing interior and exterior glass
- pest control
- painting floors
- washing exterior of the building
- housekeeping equipment care
- shovel snow
- buff floors
- cleans bathrooms daily
- assists head custodians in boiler operation and other like duties as required
- cleans chalkboards and erasers
- reports to head custodians any damage, malfunctions of equipment, and any other information needed by head custodian
- acts as a substitute for head custodian
- performs duties and related tasks in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the Billings Public Schools safety policies and in compliance with the Montana Safety Culture Act
- performs other related duties as requested by head custodian and/or administrator
