Job Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Eligible driving record required
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct lists
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Males aged 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended periods
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • Paid work experience in any field or unpaid housekeeping/custodial service experience
  • Six months of custodial or environmental services experience preferred
  • Skill in use of custodial equipment and safe handling of chemicals
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to train others
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and residents
  • Ability to work irregular hours

Job Duties

  • Performs custodial functions timely and with high quality including sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning windows and light fixtures
  • Ensures proper sanitization and disinfection in accordance with training received
  • Cleans and maintains floor care, restroom care, bedroom care, nurses’ station and isolation areas
  • Maintains and cleans interior and exterior of assigned buildings
  • Reports needed repairs
  • Empties trash and replenishes supplies as needed
  • Trains and coaches other custodians and provides documentation of training
  • Inspects assigned buildings for cleanliness, completed work and needed minor repairs and performs minor maintenance
  • Completes documentation accurately and timely
  • Helps residents maintain optimal health and provides a safe environment
  • Participates in disaster response or continuity of operations activation as needed
