Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred
  • ability to operate janitorial and cleaning equipment
  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting and moving equipment
  • availability to work flexible hours especially during events or weekends
  • ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
  • good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic custodial procedures
  • skill in the use of floor buffing machines, carpet shampooing machines, and other cleaning machines
  • ability to learn about occupational hazards and safety precautions for the proper management of chemicals, trash, body fluids
  • ability to use common hand tools and janitorial equipment
  • ability to maintain professionalism with visitors and employees of the facility
  • ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and posted schedules
  • ability to efficiently complete assigned tasks within work time

Job Duties

  • Monitor the overall appearance of the facility to ensure cleanliness and order
  • inspect and monitor restrooms at least hourly
  • clean, sweep, mop, and restock restrooms daily
  • communicate with the building supervisor to ensure meeting rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for scheduled meetings
  • perform general facility cleaning including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing furniture, window ledges, light fixtures, and other surfaces
  • strip, wax, and buff tile floors as needed
  • clean vents on a monthly basis and/or as required
  • prepare rooms for meetings and events
  • monitor the facility grounds throughout the day including parking lots and surrounding areas
  • clean exterior areas by removing debris and trash from parking lots and walkways
  • identify and report building maintenance needs promptly
  • respond to public inquiries in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner including providing information and resolving complaints
  • maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
