Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • minimum of two years custodial working experience
  • ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • ability to lift, bend, and be on your feet for several hours at a time
  • must be able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English

Job Duties

  • Clean and polish furniture, cases, fixtures, and furnishings
  • clean mirrors, inside of exterior glass and both sides of interior glass while standing on the floor or step ladder
  • clean inside and outside of all vestibule/entrance while standing on the floor or step ladder
  • completely clean and stock with supplies all restrooms
  • dust venetian blinds and all other surfaces while standing on the floor or step ladder
  • spot wash walls, doors, frames and light switches to remove such items as splash marks, touch points, smudges, blackmarks etc
  • clean patient bedside equipment
  • make beds and change linen
  • change or replace shower or cubical curtains while standing on floor or step ladder
  • collect and transport general and recycled waste materials to central location
  • report items in need of repair or full
  • sweep, dust mop, spot mop floors and stairways
  • wet mop small areas of floor or stairs to clean up such items as spilled liquid or food
  • disinfect all areas as directed
  • clean, disinfect, and dispose of all blood and body fluids as directed and to policy
  • maintain an inventory of supplies in accordance with specific instructions
  • replace burnt out incandescent light bulbs while standing on floor or step ladder
  • move and arrange furniture and furnishings to facilitate cleaning and event set-ups as well as returning them to their original position
  • collect and transport soiled linen to a central location
  • clean assigned area of work and equipment
  • wet mop floors and stairways, including carpeted areas
  • hand mop small areas inaccessible to mechanical floor cleaning equipment upon request
  • operate and maintain basic custodial equipment (vacuums, carts, mops, buckets, wringers etc.)
  • use all safety precautions to protect self and others
