Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous custodial experience preferred
  • valid driver’s license required
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • ability to pull and push up to 100 lbs
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions including chemical safety labels
  • ability to work evening shift 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM Monday through Friday
  • physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks
  • ability to use cleaning equipment and materials safely and properly
  • strong communication skills
  • punctuality and reliable attendance
  • willingness to comply with college policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in custodial duties and responsibilities
  • valid driver’s license
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • ability to work well with others
  • knowledge of cleaning and polishing agents and their proper use
  • ability to utilize hand controlled appliances and safety equipment
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions including chemical labels
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • ability to pull and push up to 100 lbs
  • ability to use information technology for professional productivity such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • experience with Colleague preferred
  • experience working within a collegiate setting preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform scheduled cleaning and maintenance
  • clean assigned buildings and facilities including dusting, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing floors and woodwork, washing windows and fixtures
  • clean and disinfect bathrooms
  • utilize and maintain equipment like vacuums, mops, buffers, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, and deicers
  • read labels and mix chemicals according to instructions
  • pick up trash and litter including recycled materials
  • utilize appropriate safety equipment and procedures
  • assist in moving furniture, heavy equipment and supplies
  • maintain walk areas by sweeping debris, washing walkways and using deicer
  • remove snow and ice from sidewalks and surrounding areas
  • exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality
  • comply with college policies and procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned including attending college functions and serving on committees
