Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred
- Two years experience in cleaning methods and equipment preferred
- Ability to perform very heavy work exerting over 100 pounds occasionally
- Physical ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, and lawn equipment
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with school staff and supervisors
- Successful completion of health exam, criminal records check, and drug test is required
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred
- Two years of experience in custodial work or equivalent training preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
- Ability to operate floor cleaning and lawn maintenance equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to prepare timesheets and maintenance reports
- Ability to work well with others
- Physical capability to perform heavy manual tasks
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of manual cleaning and maintenance activities in accordance with established practices and schedules
- Maintains grounds and outdoor areas including snow removal and debris pickup
- Delivers supplies, materials, and equipment, and verifies delivery orders for accuracy
- Performs minor equipment repairs and reports maintenance needs
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, windows, walls, floors, and furniture
- Empties trash cans, deposits recyclable materials, and maintains sufficient levels of fuel and fluids for equipment
- Opens and secures buildings, adjusts heating and air conditioning, operates flags raising and lowering
- Arranges furniture for meetings or events as required
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administration, staff, and coworkers
- Performs other duties as assigned
