Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 is a prominent educational institution serving nearly 17,000 students ranging from preschool to 12th grade. Job Requirements
- Must be in good health and able to perform all jobs assigned
- Must work in a safe manner with hand tools
- Be able to understand written and oral instructions
- Must be able to work harmoniously with others
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs at least 4ft from ground
- Be able to work 30 hours per week
- Be able to work Monday through Friday
- Must be able to start work shift as early as 2:15 pm and as late as 3:45 pm
Job Qualifications

- Available to work Monday through Friday
- Must be able to start shifts between 2:15 pm and 3:45 pm
- College degree preferred
- Specialized trade certifications and licenses considered
Job Duties
- Clean assigned classrooms, washrooms, and corridors
- Sweep hallways and mop floors
- Secure building upon leaving by turning on alarms
- Turn off lights except for night lights
- Report needed repairs to Head Custodian
- Check boiler and heating systems during heating season
- Empty waste paper and trash into dumpster
- Spot mop areas as needed
- Clean drinking fountains
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal
- Mop and sweep classroom floor areas including under furniture
- Clean sinks, drain boards, and drinking fountains
- Dust furniture, window sills, shelves, and cabinet tops
- Arrange furniture after cleaning
- Adjust shades evenly
- Secure windows and lock doors
- Mop washroom floors daily
- Empty washroom trash cans and wastebaskets
- Clean toilet bowls, urinals, and toilets daily
- Clean mirrors daily
- Remove graffiti
- Clean moldings, stall tops, and window sills
- Ensure windows locked, lights off, and doors locked at day end
- Fill soap dispensers, toilet paper holders, and paper towel holders
- Level shades weekly
- Clean blackboards and whiteboards weekly
- Dust window sills and stairway handrails weekly
- Clean inside glass daily and spot clean as needed
