Job Requirements
- Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to read, write and speak English
- experience in building or related cleaning work
- possession of a valid California Class C Driver's license
- ability to perform sustained physical labor lifting up to 50 pounds
- ability to operate custodial and power-driven floor cleaning equipment
- ability to work evenings Monday through Friday
- willingness to work on scaffolding and ladders up to 30 feet
- ability to pass a complete physical examination prior to appointment
Job Qualifications

- ability to operate power-driven custodial equipment
- knowledge of effective cleaning methods
- ability to use cleaning chemicals and materials safely
- ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- ability to perform sustained physical labor including lifting up to 50 pounds
- ability to safely work at heights up to 30 feet
- possession of a valid California Class C Driver's license
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- sensitivity to diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Job Duties
- Sweep, scrub, mop, wash, polish, strip and wax floors using various machines
- operate hot water pressure (steam) cleaner on floor surfaces
- burnish, re-stripe and refinish hardwood flooring
- scrub baseboards and walls
- vacuum, shampoo and spot-clean carpeting
- clean ceilings, air vents, and light fixtures
- dust, wash and polish furniture and woodwork
- wash and clean windows, walls, chalkboards, whiteboards and smartboards
- clean and maintain restrooms, shower and locker rooms, cafeterias and offices
- empty and clean waste receptacles
- sweep sidewalks, pick up papers and clean drinking fountains
- replenish supplies and fill dispensers
- deliver supplies, furniture and equipment
- turn out lights, lock doors and set alarms
- use tools to move, set up and knock down staging and audio-visual equipment
- operate manual sprayers for insecticides
- assemble and move furnishings
- operate District vehicles including trucks and forklifts
- set up and work on scaffolding and ladders
- test new products and report on results
- use cleaning chemicals and materials safely
- carry portable radio or phone and be available campus-wide
- observe and report vandalism or hazards
- work as team for event set up and cleanup
- input work orders
- fill in at other district locations
- lift and move heavy objects
- replace carpet tiles and repair furniture
- assist in District property inventories
- assist in training new employees
- perform other related duties as assigned
