Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of approved high school equivalent certificate
- two years of relevant maintenance and cleaning experience
- possession of current valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License
- possession of valid New Jersey driver's license if vehicle operation is necessary for duties
- ability to communicate effectively in English or acceptable alternative communication methods
- capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- submission of electronic application through Newark Board of Education
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate
- two years of experience involving heating, inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of furniture, fixtures, offices, buildings, and grounds
- possession of a valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License issued by New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development
- ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties (American Sign Language or Braille considered acceptable)
- ability to learn to utilize electronic or manual recording and information systems
- ability to supervise and give instructions effectively
- ability to associate with children and school staff
- mental and physical capability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation
Job Duties
- Inspect, analyze, and determine cleaning work and materials needed
- establish, maintain, and develop work plans for subordinates
- supervise and lead cleaning, maintenance, and care of buildings and grounds
- supervise cleaning and maintenance of desks, chairs, rugs, lighting fixtures, windows, and other furniture and fixtures
- supervise sweeping, washing, sanding floors, and applying wax and polish
- supervise application of paint remover and cleaning agents to furniture
- supervise sanding and refinishing of furniture
- supervise maintenance of grounds and parking areas
- supervise operation of heating and ventilating equipment
- supervise elevator operators
- inspect buildings and grounds to ensure needed work is done
- obtain, store, and safeguard equipment and supplies
- establish and maintain records of personnel, equipment, and materials
- report needed repairs to authorities
- utilize various electronic or manual recording information systems
- perform other duties assigned by principal or supervisor
