Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • previous experience in custodial work preferred
  • ability to perform physical tasks requiring lifting, bending, climbing, and standing
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • ability to comply with safety and equipment usage guidelines
  • good communication skills
  • punctuality and professional appearance
  • ability to respond to emergency situations
  • ability to work the assigned shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
  • full-time availability

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • completion of Proficiency of Custodial Operations certificate preferred
  • ability to use custodial equipment and basic office technology
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in team settings
  • knowledge of mechanical operations
  • knowledge of asbestos information
  • professionalism and confidentiality
  • ability to handle diverse population with tact

Job Duties

  • Dust all flat surfaces
  • empty wastebaskets
  • empty pencil sharpeners
  • sweep floors
  • straighten desks
  • mop and/or spot mop floors
  • clean equipment and replace supplies
  • clean and service restrooms
  • sweep assigned hallways, stairs and landings
  • lower flag if necessary
  • clean gym, locker room and auditorium
  • assist with lunchroom clean-up
  • buff floors weekly
  • high dusting
  • carpet spotting
  • replace light bulbs as needed
  • strip, seal and wax floors
  • wash walls and furniture
  • clean carpets
  • perform energy management functions
  • consult with Building Custodial Supervisor
  • respond to office and staff requests
  • report maintenance or supply needs
  • secure the area before leaving
  • remove marks and graffiti
  • spray buff hard surface floors
  • perform recycling duties
  • respond to emergencies
