Job Requirements
- Solid work history
- ability to perform repeated bending, stooping, lifting, reaching activities
- ability to read, speak, and understand at a level appropriate to the position
- ability to follow university policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination
- valid California driver’s license preferred
- heavy work involving lifting more than 40 pounds
- willingness to work 40 hours per week in a temporary full-time capacity
Job Qualifications
- Experience working in a university or large institution
- good interpersonal communication skills
- ability to operate power cleaning equipment
- ability to use custodial systems such as work order tracking and two-way radios
- ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets
- ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
- knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned
Job Duties
- Maintains neat and clean facilities for faculty, staff, and visitors
- removes trash and recycles paper, cardboard and various materials
- maintains facility safety procedures and security measures
- positively interacts and communicates custodial activities
- maintains and operates vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, buffers, auto scrubbers, blowers, etc. for maintaining carpets, tile floors, and exterior areas
