Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor including lifting over 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, or climb for extended periods
- Valid California driver's license preferred
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English at a level appropriate to the position
- Ability to follow university policies and safety guidelines
- Must successfully pass background check
- Mandated reporter requirements compliance
Job Qualifications
- Solid work history
- Experience working in a university or large institution
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to operate power cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned
- Ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Job Duties
- Maintains neat and clean facilities for faculty, staff, and visitors
- Removes trash/recycle paper, cardboard and various materials
- Maintains facility safety procedures and security measures
- Positive interaction and communication of custodial activities
- Maintains and operates vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, buffers, auto scrubbers, blowers, etc. for maintaining carpets, tile floors, and exterior areas
