Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
- ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- ability to operate custodial equipment safely
- ability to work day or evening shifts
- willingness to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety precautions
- valid ability to climb ladders and work at heights

Job Duties
- Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned site
- sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors
- vacuum and spot clean carpets
- clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, and offices
- empty waste receptacles and spot mop spills
- clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restrooms
- fill dispensers with towels, soap, and toilet paper
- remove gum, debris, and graffiti
- unclog drains and toilets
- repair flush valves and diaphragms
- replace light bulbs and tubes
- clean chalkboards and erasers
- empty pencil sharpeners
- dust and polish furniture and woodwork
- perform minor furniture repairs
- lock and unlock doors and gates and set alarms
- perform general maintenance and repair to equipment and systems
- repair sprinkler lines and valves
- replace ballasts, wall outlets, and switches
- light pilots and set thermostats
- report safety and maintenance issues
- respond to emergency custodial needs
- operate custodial equipment and tools
- move and arrange furniture and equipment for events
- perform minor grounds maintenance duties
- participate in campus cleaning during vacations
