Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • six months of custodian or related experience
  • valid driver’s license and condition to be insured
  • reliable transportation to/from assigned work location
  • available to work standard hours from 11:45 am to 8:00 pm
  • flexibility to adjust hours occasionally
  • availability for some evening and weekend work
  • working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook)
  • ability to learn and use UPO intranet and electronic timekeeping systems
  • interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • must successfully complete criminal background check and/or FBI fingerprinting
  • pre-employment drug screening
  • full time
  • regular (37.5 hour week)
  • safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Job Duties

  • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of assigned areas in UPO leased and/or owned facilities
  • perform custodian and maintenance duties including floor care (buffing and waxing)
  • dusting
  • sweeping
  • cleaning
  • restocking of essential necessities in rest or break rooms or other facility areas
  • painting
  • snow removal
  • cutting grass
  • other minor repairs or tasks related to maintenance of facility
  • inspect assigned premises daily to determine maintenance tasks to perform including trash removal
  • clean and sanitize rest, break or other rooms
  • clean, dust and wipe furniture
  • sweep, mop or vacuum floors
  • empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers
  • replace light bulbs
  • refill dispensers as required
  • assist with setting up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events
  • operate and maintain power equipment and hand tools such as floor buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, vacuums, brooms and mops
  • maintain facility grounds, walk-ways and hallways free of clutter and trash
  • check for unlocked doors and windows and report unauthorized occupants
  • turn off lights in unused rooms
  • follow safe use of chemicals and maintenance products
  • respond to assigned work orders
  • operate facility vehicles to transport to/from locations
  • use computer systems to respond to work orders and communicate via emails, intranet, Teams and ADP
