Job Requirements

  • ability to operate various custodial equipment

Job Duties

  • clean and maintain residence halls restrooms and showers
  • clean and polish sinks, commodes, urinals, mirrors, and partitions
  • sweep and mop various floor types
  • empty waste receptacles
  • check and fill dispensers
  • wash walls, ceilings, air-vents, and lockers when necessary
  • relocate trash dumpsters for pick up
  • clean and maintain stairwells, entryways, and landings
  • sweep, mop, dust, high dusting, remove gum and graffiti
  • empty trash receptacles
  • wash windows
  • dust window ledges and clean doors and doorjambs
  • clean and maintain residence hallways, lounges, laundry rooms, and offices
  • spot clean walls
  • dust, clean drinking fountains and bottle filling stations
  • vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • safely handle cleaning chemicals
  • operate custodial equipment and hand tools
  • safeguard buildings and equipment
  • cooperate with hall staff and students
  • stock custodial supplies and complete work orders
  • perform floor care including sweeping, carpet extraction, stripping and scrubbing resilient tile and asphalt tile floors
  • carpet spotting and repairs
  • spray buffing and applying floor finish
  • clean and maintain student rooms including windows, vertical blinds, furniture, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, doors, doorjambs
  • perform light maintenance tasks such as lamp replacement and unclogging commodes and urinals
  • service vacuum cleaners
  • move and set up furniture
  • participate in staff meetings and department committees
  • assist with emergency evacuation drills and be available for emergency call out
