Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • valid California driver’s license
  • ability to read and write
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • experience with custodial equipment and supplies
  • knowledge of safety practices and custodial systems
  • ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to work flexible schedules and be available for emergency call outs
  • ability to operate computers or tablets for work documentation
  • ability to maintain cooperative work relationships

Job Qualifications

  • Valid California driver’s license
  • ability to read and write at a level commensurate with the job duties
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • experience operating and caring for custodial equipment and supplies
  • familiarity with custodial systems including work order tracking and communication devices
  • knowledge of safety requirements and practices
  • capability to perform physical activities regularly
  • ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships
  • ability to move up to 50 pounds
  • previous work experience in community living environments such as colleges, hotels or apartment complexes preferred
  • thorough knowledge of cleaning chemical safety
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in teams
  • proficiency using computers or tablets for work-related tasks
  • ability to work well with college populations
  • flexibility with changing work schedules
  • high school diploma or GED equivalent

Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain residence halls restrooms and showers including sinks, commodes, urinals, mirrors and partitions
  • sweep and mop various floor types including quarry tile and terrazzo
  • empty waste receptacles and restock dispensers
  • clean and maintain stairwells, entryways, and landings including windows, doors, handrails and entry mats
  • clean residence hallways, lounges, laundry rooms, and offices including dusting, vacuuming, carpet spotting, and gum removal
  • perform floor care using equipment such as vacuum, hot water extractor, and floor machines including stripping, scrubbing, and applying floor finishes
  • conduct light maintenance such as lamp replacement, unclogging toilets, servicing vacuum cleaners, and moving or setting up furniture
  • participate in staff meetings, emergency drills, and be available for emergency call outs
