Job Description

The State of Wyoming is currently seeking a dedicated and reliable full-time daytime custodian to join the General Services Division within the Department of Administration and Information. This position is located in Cheyenne, WY, and offers a competitive hourly wage of $15.50. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 0-6 months of progressive work experience typically in building and grounds
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Able to operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and bio-hazards
  • Must be able to drive vehicles
  • Employment subject to passing a background check
  • Must comply with OSHA and EPA regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 0-6 months of progressive work experience typically in building and grounds maintenance
  • Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and methods of more technical cleaning and maintenance
  • Knowledge of power and manual tools
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds and operating large cleaning equipment
  • Preferred experience working with cleaning materials and chemicals

Job Duties

  • Responsible for general cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, washing windows and mirrors, and cleaning/stocking restrooms, bathrooms, and offices
  • Learn where custodial supplies are kept and replenish supplies when needed
  • Observe and identify areas that need repair and submit information to the supervisor
  • Complies with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA
  • Operates and maintains equipment, including hand and shop tools
  • Moves furniture and sets up conference rooms for meetings and events
  • Performs designated watchman rounds to ensure security and safety, checks building systems for proper function, and updates security logs
  • Performs chemical renovations
  • Monitors fire protection systems
