Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months to 1 year of any combination of training and experience indicating possession of required knowledge, skills and abilities
- physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift or move heavy items up to 50 pounds
- knowledge of safe use and operation of cleaning equipment and chemicals
- ability to read and write sufficiently for job duties
- ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- valid Washington State Driver's license
Job Qualifications
- 6 months to 1 year of any combination of training and experience relevant to custodial work
- knowledge of current efficient cleaning methods, materials, tools, and equipment
- ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- ability to use cleaning materials and equipment safely and effectively
- ability to quickly learn and use new technologies and products
- ability to meet physical requirements of the job
- strong interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural and demographic diversity
- valid Washington State Driver's license
Job Duties
- Perform routine janitorial and custodial functions using prescribed methods and timelines
- clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, gymnasium, library, offices, and related facilities
- sweep, mop, scrub, wax and polish various floor types
- learn and use new technologies and products for cleaning
- wash windows, walls, clean whiteboards and chalk boards
- move and arrange furniture and equipment for campus events
- clean and maintain rugs and carpets, replace light bulbs and tubes
- lock and unlock doors, gates, buildings, and windows
- report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards and maintenance needs
- pick up debris, sweep and clean stairs, walkways, and entrances
- operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor machines
- respond to callbacks and overtime duties
- perform other related duties as assigned
