Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum two years custodial or relevant maintenance experience
  • knowledge of safety procedures and hazardous cleaning chemicals
  • ability to follow instructions
  • valid driver's license
  • availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation or GED certificate
  • two years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work
  • knowledgeable of safety procedures and hazardous chemicals involved in cleaning and disposing of hazardous waste
  • able to follow written and oral instructions
  • valid driver's license
  • five years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to guests with care and effectiveness
  • prepare reserved spaces by cleaning, emptying garbage, cleaning floors, arranging furniture, setting up stages, and assisting with decorations and props
  • set up rooms by following room diagrams and checklists with strong attention to detail
  • tear down rooms and store equipment after events
  • assist the A/V team with placing and putting away equipment without requiring A/V knowledge
  • maintain cleanliness of event spaces and public spaces during events including restrooms, lobby areas, and function rooms
  • clean all areas impacted at the conclusion of events including removing soiled linens and storing appropriately
  • perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting furniture and ledges, cleaning windows, emptying trash, and other assigned tasks
  • maintain cleanliness and order in janitorial storage areas
  • operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners
  • operate a golf cart on campus grounds
  • maintain constant awareness of safety issues and report concerns to supervisor
  • report repairs immediately to supervisor
  • follow lost and found procedures
  • communicate pertinent information to the Conference Services team
  • interact professionally with students, employees, and guests
  • perform other duties as assigned
  • work a flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends
