Job Requirements
- Ability to safely use a wide variety of equipment and machinery common to custodial services including stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, wet/dry shop vacuums, carpet extractors, cleaning machines, raiding flooring cleaning machines, squeegees, brushes
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and understand their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods
- Knowledge of proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces including tile, carpeted, sealed concrete, and laminate floors
- Ability to use proper PPE for hazards including biohazards cleaning
- Ability to pass forklift driver training program
- Ability to drive and maneuver a trailer
- Ability to read and understand department memorandums, equipment user manuals, and signs and respond accordingly
- Aptitude to respond to written and oral instructions in English and legibly complete forms or logs
- Ability to work effectively with others
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical school or apprenticeship program in related field is a plus
- One year prior facility custodial experience preferred
- Possess and maintain a California driver’s license, Class C, with less than 6 points in the prior 36-month period and no DUI’s in the prior 7-year period
- Maintain compliance with District policy regarding Conflict of Interest and Ethics
- Ability to obtain and maintain annual access to Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton
- Ability to become RWP Qualified on NCTD owned railroad properties
Job Duties
- Performs cleaning activities to buildings, sites, equipment, and assists Facilities Maintenance Technicians
- Performs cleaning duties in accordance with the District Cleaning Plan and cleaning industry standards for each facility including offices, industrial buildings, buses, trains, coaches, and public transit centers/stations
- Moves and/or arranges furniture and equipment
- Loads and unloads supplies onto or from trucks
- Performs touch up and minor painting, removes graffiti
- Performs non-technical inspections on District buildings and sites
- Organizes/maintains supplies and assists with proper care/storage of tools and equipment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
