Job Requirements
- elementary school education or equivalent
- prior experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred
- ability to use industrial powered cleaning equipment
- physical capability to perform strenuous cleaning tasks
- willingness to perform outdoor cleaning duties
- reliable and punctual
- strong attention to detail
- ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
Job Qualifications
- elementary school education or equivalent
- creditable job-related experience may be substituted for education on a 9 months for 9 months basis
- ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
- knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
- good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor
- effective communication skills
- ability to work independently and follow instructions
Job Duties
- sweep floors, hallways, corridors, and stairways, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floor surfaces using heavy duty powered equipment
- perform necessary maintenance such as cleaning and oiling equipment
- operate heavy industrial type vacuum cleaner to clean rugs and drapes using chemicals and cleaning solutions
- wash windows, walls and partitions, and clean and replace venetian blinds and light fixtures using ladder or scaffold
- move heavy furniture, boxes or other obstacles in accomplishment of cleaning duties
- move trash, scraps, and other material to central pick-up point
- clean, adjust, and oil tools and powered equipment, change brushes, rollers, pads and blades
- wash, clean, disinfect, deodorize, and maintain restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
- replace toilet tissue, towels, soap and deodorizer as required
- dust, wax, and polish office furniture
- clean shelves and empty ash trays and waste baskets
- maintain stock of restroom and janitorial supplies
- perform light outdoor work related to facility cleanliness such as picking up litter and sweeping steps and sidewalks
- perform other duties as assigned
