Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year previous job experience required in lieu of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to use custodial equipment
  • Prior job experience preferred
  • May be exposed to rooms where medications are stored but no contact with medications is allowed
  • Valid Act 34 clearance

  • Commitment to adhere to hospital confidentiality and safety policies

Job Duties

  • Clean patient rooms including operating rooms daily and perform terminal cleaning at patient discharge
  • Adhere strictly to all policies and practices related to patient care and hospital information
  • Operate various cleaning equipment such as buffers, wringers, scrubbers, and vacuums
  • Clean and disinfect equipment including bedside commodes, IV stands, pumps, and specialty wheeled equipment
  • Clean assigned areas using EPA-approved germicidal solutions
  • Scrub, strip, and refinish hard floors using floor maintenance programs and chemicals
  • Re-stock unit-specific equipment and supplies
  • Complete and document daily routine responsibilities including signature service logs and maintenance checks
  • Collect and properly dispose of soiled linens, trash, and infectious waste
  • Ensure equipment malfunctions are tagged, reported, and delivered to appropriate departments
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storerooms and trash chute rooms
  • Shampoo and extract carpets, clean furniture, stairways, elevators, and baseboards
