Job Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment background check and job fitness assessment
- Must have an Oregon driver’s license and meet City of Salem driving standards
- Must pass a criminal background check to obtain CJIS clearance and LEDS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years experience in custodial work
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to work evening, early morning, and weekend shifts
- Must adhere to safety procedures when handling chemicals and hazardous materials
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and exterior cleaning tasks
- Must be dependable and have good communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of custodial work experience including cleaning and minor maintenance
- Knowledge of cleaning practices and light building maintenance
- Experience using custodial equipment and supplies
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the public
- Eagerness and reliability in daily tasks
- Ability to maintain records and documentation
- Criminal Justice Information System clearance and Law Enforcement Data System certification within 30 days of hire
Job Duties
- Perform routine custodial tasks such as vacuuming, emptying trash receptacles, sweeping, carpet cleaning, hard-floor waxing, and related duties
- Clean and disinfect restroom fixtures, door handles, and floors, including mopping
- Responsible for cleanup of potentially infectious materials such as vomit, urine, and feces
- Replace light bulbs and perform minor fixture maintenance as needed
- Maintain exterior building areas, including landscaped grounds, sweeping sidewalks, shoveling snow, pressure washing paved surfaces, vacuuming debris, mowing, weeding, trimming, and watering landscape features
- Follow safety precautions related to moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and refuse
- Work independently and maintain cleanliness standards during evening, early morning, and weekend shifts as assigned
