Job Requirements
- completion of 10th grade
- high school diploma or GED required
- ability to perform housekeeping and cleaning duties
- capability to maintain a cooperative and pleasant attitude
- ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols such as the 10-step cleaning process
- ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors and staff

Job Duties
- perform various housekeeping and heavy-duty cleaning throughout all hospital buildings and surrounding areas
- maintain a pleasant and cooperative service attitude towards patients, families of patients, visitors, medical center staff, co-workers and management at all times
- perform a 10-step cleaning process including knocking and greeting patient/family, emptying waste, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, restroom cleaning, dust mopping, room inspection, damp mopping, and interacting with patient/family
- high dust all above shoulder surfaces and ceiling vents/lights
- damp wipe all ledges, furnishings, furniture, lights, shelves, light switches, telephones, door knobs
- spot clean walls, doors, windows/glass
- clean and disinfect bathrooms, restock disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, seat covers, paper towels
- dust mop floors using chemically treated mop
- vacuum carpeted floors and upholstery
- remove spots from carpet and damp mop floors using prescribed cleaning agents
- report maintenance needs in patient rooms, exam/treatment rooms, restrooms, offices, labs, departments, public and ancillary areas
- perform check-out/transfer cleaning including stripping, cleaning and remaking beds, removing patient supplies and equipment, and proper room setup
- perform between-case cleaning and terminal cleaning in labor and delivery and operating rooms
- inventory and distribute linen supplies and equipment to user units
- wash ceiling surfaces
- clean elevators, stairwells, parking lots, garages, entrances and sweep sidewalks
- wash interior windows
- defrost and clean refrigerators
