Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • perform various housekeeping and heavy-duty cleaning throughout all hospital buildings and surrounding areas
  • maintain a pleasant and cooperative service attitude towards patients, families of patients, visitors, medical center staff, co-workers and management
  • perform a 10 step cleaning process including knocking and greeting patients/families, emptying waste, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, restroom cleaning, dust mopping floors, inspecting rooms, damp mopping floors, interacting with patients/families
  • high dust all above shoulder surfaces and ceiling vents/lights
  • damp wipe ledges, furnishings, furniture, lights, shelves, light switches, telephones, door knobs
  • spot clean walls, doors and windows/glass
  • clean and disinfect bathrooms/restrooms including sinks, toilets, showers, floors, pipes, mirrors, urinals and restock disposable items
  • dust mop floors with chemically treated mop
  • vacuum carpeted floors and upholstery, remove spots, damp mop floors with prescribed cleaning agents
  • report maintenance needs in patient rooms, exam/treatment rooms, restrooms, offices, labs, departments, public areas and ancillary areas
  • perform check-out/transfer cleaning including stripping beds, removing patient supplies/equipment, and proper room setup
  • perform between-case cleaning and terminal cleaning in labor & delivery and operating rooms
  • inventory and distribute linen supplies and equipment to user units
  • wash ceiling surfaces
  • clean elevators and stairwells
  • clean parking lots, garages, entrances and sweep sidewalks
  • wash interior windows
  • defrost and clean refrigerators
