The Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) is a well-established nonprofit organization that serves the Alaska Native communities and the broader population in Alaska. It is committed to improving the well-being of Alaska Native people throughout the region by providing programs that promote health, education, and cultural preservation. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or any combination of education, training, or experience
  • One year staff supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native lifestyles, culture, arts, language and history
  • Experience in planning and hosting events including fundraising, and solicitation of grants and donations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and advance programs with project management experience with evidence of strong attention to detail
  • Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska Background Check Program

  • One year staff supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native lifestyles, culture, arts, language and history
  • Experience in planning and hosting events including fundraising and solicitation of grants and donations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and advance programs with project management experience with evidence of strong attention to detail
  • Ability to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Develop, manage and monitor budgets
  • Excellent communication skills including oral presentation and public speaking, writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Must be a resourceful team player that establishes, strengthens, and maintains effective working relationships with others inside or outside the organization
  • Ability to systematically develop plans, prioritize and manage resources
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize a range of personal computer resources and applications including Microsoft Office Programs and Google Calendar
  • Must be able to identify and respond to internal and external clients by providing excellent customer service

Job Duties

  • Develop, coordinate and oversee classes, workshops, and events focused on strengthening and sharing Alaska Native cultural traditions in the TCC villages and Fairbanks
  • Set up and oversee contracts for TCC Cultural Program
  • Develop opportunities for Alaska Native artists and culture bearers to demonstrate art
  • Identify, build, and strengthen or enhance partnerships
  • Implement department's public relations and marketing strategies to reach stakeholders and target markets
  • Recommend, develop and oversee new programs as needed
  • Research and make recommendations to discontinue programs if unsuccessful
  • Work with supervisor to develop and monitor program budget
  • Prepare financial and narrative reports, purchase requisitions, payment requests, and travel requests
  • Develop database of Alaska Native artists, musicians, storytellers, and Alaska Native language speakers willing to serve as community resource demonstrators and/or instructors
  • Contribute to team effort within the TCC Cultural Programs, Family Services & Support Department, and with MTCVC partners by actively solving problems and maintaining open communications
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
