Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a kitchen or culinary environment
  • California Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight
  • Basic culinary education or training
  • Basic knowledge of cost control and payroll monitoring
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Computer proficiency related to inventory and ordering systems

Job Duties

  • Oversee kitchen operations and ensure consistent, quality food production
  • Supervise hourly cooks and assist in their training
  • Manage kitchen payroll and monitor overtime costs
  • Maintain cost control measures and assist with inventory management
  • Order supplies and interact with sales representatives and vendors
  • Assume department responsibilities in the absence of the Sous Chef
  • Maintain a calm and efficient work environment during peak hours
