  • Basic understanding of kitchen operation within a hotel
  • culinary education
  • basic cost control knowledge

  • ability to supervise hourly cooks
  • willingness to assume responsibilities in absence of Sous Chef
  • ability to assist in monitoring payroll and overtime

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in culinary arts, hospitality management, or a related field preferred
  • bachelor’s degree in food service management or business administration considered
  • experience in high-volume restaurant kitchen
  • at least two years supervisory experience
  • strong leadership skills
  • effective communication skills
  • organizational abilities
  • problem-solving skills
  • strong work ethic
  • ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Produce consistent quality products that meet and exceed guest needs
  • supervise hourly cooks
  • assist in department training
  • assume department responsibilities in absence of Sous Chef
  • monitor payroll costs and overtime
  • maintain communication between kitchen staff
  • ensure efficient kitchen operations
