Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience working in a professional kitchen
  • demonstrated leadership abilities
  • knowledge of culinary techniques and methods
  • understanding of food safety protocols
  • ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • basic computer proficiency for daily operational tasks
  • valid food handler’s card or equivalent certification

Job Qualifications

  • Degree or certificate from a culinary school preferred
  • several years of experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally at a hotel or resort
  • previous supervisory or lead cook experience
  • knowledge of food costs, inventory management and labor budgeting
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • basic computer skills including schedule and email management
  • valid food handler’s card or manager's food safety certification

Job Duties

  • Lead the team of hourly cooks and assist in training the department
  • step up to manage daily kitchen operations in the absence of the Sous Chef
  • ensure quality control by maintaining high standards for every dish and timely service
  • monitor payroll and manage food and labor costs to enhance kitchen efficiency
  • maintain clear, effective communication across kitchen and other departments
  • support operational activities to comply with health and safety standards
  • assist in inventory management and ordering supplies
