Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2 years culinary experience
- Willingness to work varying schedules reflective of business needs
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings
- Strict adherence to hotel rules and regulations
- Ability to work in varying temperatures including extreme cold and heat
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Willingness to comply with safety and sanitation laws
- Ability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Resume clearance for safety and health risks
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years culinary experience
- Culinary classes preferred
- Knowledge of culinary department services and facilities
- Ability to be detailed oriented and organized
- Familiarity with basic math skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to operate kitchen and office equipment
- Maintained Serv Safe Certification
Job Duties
- Train staff by showing them how to perform each task
- Work side-by-side to evaluate the learning and comprehension of tasks
- Assign work and oversee culinary staff
- Coach and counsel culinary staff to hotel standards
- Attend meetings that promote communication regarding the Front of the House and the kitchen
- Ensure a safe working environment for all kitchen personnel
- Write and administer kitchen staff evaluations
- Make suggestions and recommendations regarding hiring, firing, advancement, or promotion
- Control the elements that determine profit and loss
- Cost out printed and specialty menus
- Plan cooking times for smooth execution of Front of the House events
- Assist in creation and implementation of menus
- Schedule to meet the demands of business levels
- Proactively engage with guests and fellow associates
- Know, practice, and enforce all local health department sanitation laws
- Maintain Serv Safe Certification
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards
- Check food purchases for proper ordering, storage, quality, and price structure
