Job Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum three years’ experience supervising or cooking in a professional kitchen
  • ServSafe certified preferred or will obtain within six months
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution or equivalent applicable work experience
  • Ability to cook tasteful meals with attractive presentations
  • Ability to instruct culinary arts through hands-on demonstration
  • Ability to communicate clearly and promote teamwork
  • Ability to work with diverse groups treating all with dignity and respect
  • Knowledge of food safety and handling practices
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to stand, reach, bend, and carry frequently
  • Maintains a Christ-centered and compassionate attitude

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Minimum three years experience supervising or cooking in a professional kitchen
  • ServSafe certification preferred or obtainable within six months of employment
  • Associates degree or equivalent applicable work experience
  • Affiliation with American Culinary Federation or National Restaurant Association a plus
  • Previous experience working with homeless, addicted, or mentally ill preferred
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and aligns with SRM's Statement of Faith
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Extensive cooking knowledge and hands-on experience
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Assist in the training of SRM Culinary Arts students through SRM work initiatives
  • Minister to and encourage the growth and development of students, residents and shelter guests
  • Facilitate teamwork, time management, and problem resolution
  • Prepare meals through culinary arts training to serve SRM guests, clients and residents
  • Train and oversee various levels of volunteers
  • Communicate effectively and cheerfully with unpaid staff members
  • Ensure proper use, cleaning, and storage of equipment
