Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Active physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
- Ability to frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working near extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
- Available to work indoors with occasional outdoor events
- Good physical and mental health verified by recent health screening
- Freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis verified upon employment and annually
- Criminal background clearance required
Job Qualifications
- Formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory/management experience
- Demonstrated leadership, training, and supervisory skills
- Proficient in written and oral communication with management and staff
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel for document creation and data management
- Ability to send, receive, and forward emails
- Experience in senior housing or a related field preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Oversee culinary department to ensure consistent five-star service
- Ensure food preparation meets culinary standards and provides exceptional dining experiences
- Develop seasonal and mainstay menus based on resident preferences using fresh ingredients
- Manage portion control and minimize food waste
- Lead, train, and supervise culinary staff to maintain high performance and engagement
- Coordinate with management and support staff through effective communication
- Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
