Job Requirements

  • At least eighteen years of age
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable with extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required
  • Good physical and mental health verified by recent health screening
  • Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis annually
  • Criminal background clearance
  • Experience in senior housing or related field preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in communication and leadership
  • Completion of culinary or equivalent training

Job Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in senior housing or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, training, and supervision
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Completed formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory or management-level experience
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to send, receive, and forward email

Job Duties

  • Oversee Culinary department in providing consistent, exceptional, five-star service in both front and back of house
  • Ensure food items are prepared to Culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Develop menus of delicious seasonal and mainstay choices based off resident preferences and needs utilizing fresh foods
  • Lead and train culinary staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety regulations
  • Manage inventory, food purchasing and cost controls to optimize budget
  • Collaborate with management and care teams to ensure resident dietary needs are met
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and dining areas according to health codes
