The community operates a full-service Dining Services Department designed to meet the nutritional, dietary, and hospitality needs of their residents, many with geriatric requirements. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant food service experience
  • Experience managing staff and purchasing food supplies preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with older adults
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to comply with local and state health regulations
  • Proficiency in English
  • Computer literacy including Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel locally for job responsibilities
  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior food service experience in hotels, schools, healthcare or retirement living
  • Experience with large group cooking and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to establish long-term relationships
  • Interest in working with the older adult population
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Word and Excel and ability to learn database software
  • Proficient in written and verbal English
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in 24 hour operation including weekends

Job Duties

  • Purchase food, equipment and supplies within budgetary and PRD guidelines
  • Assure groceries and supplies ordered are received and vendor invoices are correct
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes and presentation of food
  • Adhere and enforce meals prepared are in accordance with company menu standards
  • Organize and direct dining service training programs
  • Assist in solving dining personnel issues, hiring and evaluating employees
  • Ensure team member compliance with hygiene and sanitation per local and state health regulations
  • Establish and implement cleaning and equipment maintenance plans compliant with health rules
  • Complete and submit timely and accurate food and supply inventories
  • Walk throughout dining room during meals to ensure proper service and engage residents for feedback
  • Support and assist in planning, purchasing, and preparation for special events and catering
  • Communicate with Executive Director and dietary consultant about quality improvements
  • Facilitate and document monthly Food Committee Meetings
  • Investigate and resolve complaints about food quality and taste
  • Attend required meetings and provide education as requested
  • Monitor community safety hazards and report immediately
  • Perform duties in compliance with company policies and state licensing regulations
  • Be available on-call 24 hours for emergencies
  • Perform other duties as requested
