Roof Above is North Carolina's most comprehensive homeless service provider, dedicated to uniting the community to end homelessness one life at a time. Since its formation in 2019 through the merger of the Urban Ministry Center and the Men's Shelter of Charlotte, Roof Above has expanded its reach to over 1,300 individuals daily across nine campuses in Charlotte. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years experience in hospitality or food services management
  • Minimum eight years of progressive experience in food service industry including three years in supervisory role
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and developing vendor relationships
  • Strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations and housing first approach
  • Superior conflict resolution and oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing food inventories and budgets
  • Servsafe certified
  • Computer proficiency
  • Current valid driver's license

Job Duties

  • Hire, train and manage all food services staff for kitchen and food delivery services
  • Assist in day-to-day operation of the kitchens and develop, implement and enforce all kitchen standard operating procedures
  • Direct food service operations within four program locations including all food preparation, dining room operations, and dining delivery services when necessary
  • Purchase all food and supplies and manage inventory ensuring effective cost controls and vendor service and quality
  • Routinely monitor budget compliance and recommend changes as needed to maintain operational quality
  • Ensure the highest nutrition and food quality for the health, safety, and enjoyment of the guests
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations to ensure sanitary and safe operations
  • Plan and execute volunteer dining events in conjunction with Volunteer Engagement Team
  • Oversee scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Manage department budget including purchasing and staffing expenditures
  • Work weekends, evenings, or nights as required to ensure shift coverage
  • Perform other duties as assigned
