Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent in culinary arts, foodservice management, hospitality, or related discipline
- minimum seven years industry experience
- at least three years supervisory experience
- proven professional development in culinary education
- ability to lift 50 pounds frequently
- ability to stand for long periods
- ability to perform hands-on culinary demonstrations
- ability to be exposed to cleaning agents and kitchen sanitation chemicals
- ability to tolerate temperatures between 48 and 54 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts, Foodservice Management, Hospitality, or significant professional accomplishments in these disciplines
- minimum seven years of industry experience
- at least three years supervisory experience with management and line employees
- proven track record of career progress in culinary education
- relevant work experience in volume food service, fine dining, multi-unit restaurant operations, or menu research and development preferred
- bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- high proficiency in culinary techniques
- excellent presence and presentation skills
- strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- ability to work independently and collaboratively
- sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive student issues
- strong computer skills including MS Office
- strong customer service skills
- moderate to strong organizational skills
Job Duties
- Prepare daily instructional lesson plans based on agreed curriculum
- assess learning outcomes listed in course guides or syllabi
- instruct lectures and hands-on classes on campus, off campus, or remotely
- advise students who need extra help, career guidance, or academic assistance
- provide regular and objective feedback and evaluate student performance
- collaborate with colleagues to prepare and revise course materials
- conduct off campus business activities and instruction consistent with CIA standards
- teach assigned courses following schedule and curriculum
- supervise students in culinary, baking, or pastry arts classes
- enforce sanitation principles and academic policies
- manage equipment and facilities of kitchen and classrooms
- stay updated on foodservice industry developments and undertake professional development
- support CIA's mission and strategic directions
- contribute to college growth through committee work and student recommendations
- develop menus and organizational plans for events
- perform other assigned duties
