Job Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- at least 3 years of full-time culinary experience
- reside on Oahu
- ability to commute to Honolulu
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ability to work in a certified kitchen
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of full-time experience as a culinary chef, executive chef, chef de cuisine (head chef), sous chef, or equivalent professional role
- must live on Oahu and be able to commute to Honolulu, Hawaii
- knowledge of Japanese cuisine, Hawaii flavors, or fusion cooking preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Develop and prepare 4 to 5 signature bento recipes
- source and work with local ingredients while balancing cost and quality
- ensure consistency in flavor, presentation, and efficiency
- maintain food safety, sanitation, and compliance with Hawaii Department of Health requirements
- adapt responsibilities as UMASHI grows
