Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Minimum 6 years experience in baking at a 4 star style hotel or restaurant
  • Certification in CPR
  • Food handling certificate
  • Ability to exert physical effort to transport up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
  • Ability to reach 7 feet
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout work shift

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • Maintain correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times
  • Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Resolve guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation and health regulations and hotel requirements
  • Meet with Pastry Chef and Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, and changes
  • Complete opening duties including setting up work station, inspecting equipment, checking production schedule, and establishing priority items
  • Prepare and produce breads and other designated items for restaurants, room service, and banquets following recipes and yield guides
  • Produce centerpieces for banquets and buffets and display items attractively
  • Prepare amenity orders for room service
  • Inform Pastry Chef of any shortages or excess items
  • Assist Pastry Cooks to ensure optimum service to guests
  • Maintain proper storage procedures following health department and hotel requirements
  • Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost
  • Disinfect and sanitize work surfaces
  • Transport dirty pots and pans to the pot wash station and direct stewards for cleanup efficiency
  • Complete closing duties including returning and organizing food items and utensils, cleaning prep areas, restocking depleted items, and reviewing work status with Pastry Chef
  • Assist with daily checking of bulletin board for functions and pre-orders
  • Ensure proper presentation and preparation of all baked goods
  • Responsible for mise en place and production backup
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
