Job Qualifications

  • Two years of cook experience in high-volume food establishment or completion of culinary vocational training program
  • excellent culinary knife skills
  • ability to scale recipes for various batch sizes
  • good interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • ability to read and follow recipes
  • clear communication skills
  • professional and respectful communication with co-workers and management
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • culinary program certificate preferred
  • three to five years of experience in high volume food establishment preferred
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • food allergen knowledge or certification preferred
  • valid Pennsylvania driver’s license preferred

Job Duties

  • Consults daily menu and production sheets to prepare for shifts
  • reads recipes and produces products consistent with recipes and production
  • maintains departmental standards for all menu items
  • places finished products on the line in a timely manner
  • ensures safe food products of the highest quality, freshness, and consistency
  • stores food products properly including wrapping and labeling
  • cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment and work areas
  • promotes teamwork by assisting in kitchen cleaning and organization
  • observes kitchen safety, sanitation, and food rotation protocols using FIFO
  • completes side work including running, opening, and closing tasks
  • provides friendly and competent customer service
  • records food temperature logs
  • follows all food safety HACCP requirements
  • demonstrates knowledge of food product quality and preparation methods
  • evaluates food quality by tasting
  • prepares meats and poultry for cooking
  • uses correct portions when preparing and serving items
  • assists in other kitchen areas as needed
  • maintains professional appearance
  • communicates clearly with kitchen staff and front of house
  • prepares components for salads, deli, catering, grab-and-go, coffee bar, and retail items
  • bakes goods according to recipes and bakery direction
  • cleans commercial baking equipment
