Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years cooking experience in high-volume food service or culinary vocational training
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and professional work environment
- Willingness to submit to PA criminal background check
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- 2 years of cook experience in a high-volume food establishment or completion of a culinary vocational training program
- Excellent culinary knife skills
- Ability to scale recipes for various batch sizes
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff
- Culinary program certificate (preferred)
- 3-5 years experience in a high-volume food establishment (preferred)
- ServSafe certification (preferred)
- Food allergen knowledge or certification (preferred)
- Valid PA driver’s license (preferred)
Job Duties
- Consult daily menu and production sheets to prepare for your shift
- Read recipes and produce products consistent with recipes and production
- Maintain departmental standards for all menu items
- Place finished products on the line in a timely manner
- Ensure safe food products of the highest quality, freshness, and consistency
- Store all food products properly with correct dating and labeling
- Clean and sanitize cook line, equipment, walls, floors, hoods, walk-ins, and line coolers
- Promote teamwork by assisting in cleaning and organizing kitchen areas
- Follow kitchen safety, sanitation, and back door safety rules
- Use First In First Out (FIFO) rule for proper food rotation
- Utilize cleaning chemicals according to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Complete running, opening, and closing side work
- Provide friendly and competent customer service
- Record food temperature logs of hot and cold items
- Follow all food safety HACCP requirements
- Prepare food components for salads, deli, catering platters, grab-n-go sandwiches, and retail locations
- Assist with baking breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, and cakes
- Ensure proper portioning, cutting, trimming, boning, and carving of meats and poultry
- Communicate clearly with co-workers and management
- Make suggestions for menu items and recipe adjustments
- Maintain a professional and clean appearance at all times
- Monitor and communicate with front of house about menu items and portion control
